I have an unknown device in my device manager (windows xp).
After reading the sticky thread on the blue screens i believe it is the cause of my laptop randomly restarting.
(blue screen error = DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)

In device manager Iam unable to identify what hardware its from.
In the 'details' tab - device instance ID = Root\legacy_npf\0000

any one can help me? - very much appreciate it.

thanks

Right-click your "My Computer", select Properties, select Advanced tab, click "Startup and Recovery" Settings, uncheck "Automatically Restart". Next time your BSOD occurs, have a camera handy or pen and get all the details. Do this every time.

Someone will be along shortly to help you sort this out.

Cheers
