I'm on a MX6422 Gateway Laptop and I recently upgraded my Windows XP to Vista.
When I shut down my lap (correctly, didn't put it to sleep or something)
It closes all my programs, it shut down Windows, and leave my Laptop with a black screen, power button and LAN LED ON

can someone please help me, thanks

Click on Control Panel, then 'Power Options'. On the left, "choose what the power buttons do".

thanks for the reply, but at least take some time to read my post

I didn't click on the button directly from Start menu, I clicked the arrow and then SHUT DOWN
It logged me off and then shut down windows, but didn't turned off my laptop
