Can't get Philips DVD 8631 driver to install!

Got champ man 5 for my dell and it wouldn't load as it couldn't find the disk to authenticate the game. Frustrating as it's a real copy!

First thin gI thought of was it must be the driver for the PHILIPS DVD 8631, new computer so just running off the standard XP driver. I've downloaded the fiirm ware for it which was a flash somthing. I run it, it looks like its worked but then when I look at driver properties for the PHILIPS it still says old XP driver still there.

Is this right or should the driver update the information?

My champ man still isn't workign after I've done this.
