Don't forget that internet stands for "international network", so every time you access a web page, you are actually accessing data stored on someone else's computer (which you then call a server). Mind you, good thread for reading!

An IP is very much like a street address. It just says what computer a request came from. Do you want to know about the domain name servers and web servers or something?

I think you need to know a bit more about the Internet before you ask any more questions about it

new zealand...the reason you're not getting the answers you want is because you're asking the question in (excuse my bluntness) a stupid way.....might be a language barrier...but you're not asking the right question

asking "what do you need for the internet" is like asking "what do you need for a car"....well what do you mean what do you need for a car? gas, an engine, a drivers license, the knowledge of how to drive, a road, etc...

to CONNECT to the internet (or any other network) you need a device capable of processing information (a computer or a smartphone or something to that effect) a method of connecting that device to a transmission medium (NIC card, wireless card, cellular card) a transmission medium (CAT5 cable to connect to an ethernet network, fiber optic cable to connect to an optical network, or the air to connect wirelessly) a device that can connect you to a public network (Cable modem, dialup modem, DSL mdem, frame relay CSU/DSU, Cellular card) and an external network (the internet).....

obviouslyl that's very simplified and not complete but to list every possible combination would take forever (and make me angry)....you need to ask a specific question...in a specific manner...if this is for a report....choose a different topic
