try this>>>1. In Control Panel, double-click System.
2. Click the Device Manager tab.
3. Double-click the Hard Disk Controllers branch to expand it.
4. Click the CMD PCI-0640 PCI-to-IDE controller, and then click Properties.
5. Click the Settings tab.
6. Select the proper configuration for the device.

PCI Simple Communications Controller is a dial-up modem which you probabbly have installed in your computer but there is no driver to it.

How did you install the new cd-rw? are you sure the flat cable is set in the right direction and is well secured? Dis you set the jumper properly (master, slave or cable select).

1: Try to jumper both as cable select.

2: In device manager expand dvd/cd-rom drives. Uninstall the drivers. Reboot and let windows reload the drivers.
