I've ran all the scans and gotten rid of a lot of adware/spyware and a few viruses but this sucker keeps popping back up when I'm on the Internet. I'm also randomly getting a yellow shield at the bottom that can't be opened that just says Downloading 0%. I'm cleaning up this computer for a friend, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my HJT log and my uninstall log.

Hello Jasmyne

1)A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.
  • Please download LSPFix from here.
  • Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
  • Check the I know what I'm doing box.
  • In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of abcdefgh.dll.
  • Select every instance of abcdefgh.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
  • When you are done click Finish>>.
2)Posted ImagePlease download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 onlyDouble-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

3)Click here to download FindAWF.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click on the FindAWF.exe file to run it.
  • It will open a command prompt and ask you to "Press any key to continue".
  • Press any key and the FindAWF tool will begin scanning your computer for the infected AWF files and the backups the trojan created.
  • It may take a few minutes to complete so be patient.
  • When it is complete, it will open a text file in notepad called AWF.txt which will automatically be saved to your desktop or whatever location you ran the file from.
  • Come back here to this thread and copy and paste the contents of the AWF.txt file in your next reply.
Please post back the AWF.txt and a fresh HJT Log

Save this as replace.bat , choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this:Posted Image
(In case you are unsure how to create a bat file, take a look here with screenshots.)

* Reboot into Safe Mode: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Windows Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

Once in Safe mode, doubleclick replace.bat you created previously.
The data needed then should be merged.
Then please boot back to normal Windows.

2)Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O16 - DPF: {15AD6789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windup.../bridge-c18.cab

O20 - AppInit_DLLs:

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

3)Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report
Please post the Panda Log and a fresh HJT log after completing the above steps.
Also let me know how the computer is running.

Hey Jasmyne

Updating Java and Clearing Cache
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
  • It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
  • If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
Please let me know how the PC is running after this. :whistling:

When I went to update Java it said I had the most current version installed. On the java website it verified it was already installed. When to go ahead and delete the temp files I only had two options... Trace and log files and the applicatiosn and applets is grayed out, but the keep temporary files on my computer is turned off.

Internet wise the computer is better but now I have Net meeting, dell support, & realplayer loading on start up that didn't load up before and its lagging going from window to window or opening other programs.

Hello again,

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ModemOnHold] C:\Program Files\NetWaiting\NetWaiting.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DellSupport] "C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt.exe" /startup

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Now how are things running?

Everything's some better than when I last posted it all just seems to be slower than it was. Startup is much better now without the extra stuff. I'm posting the new HJT log. I've also removed Norton from this machine so I think I got all of the Norton extras off HJT seeing as they are no longer necessary.

Thank you so much for your time. :whistling:

Hello,

I still see some signs of Norton in your log, so please download the tool and follow the instructions on the following link to completly remove norton from your PC.
http://service1.syma...005033108162039

Nice job your log looks clean !
How is it running ?
Please use the following suggestion to help prevent reinfection.

First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
* CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
Next, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)1. Turn off System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
[/list]System Restore will now be active again.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
  • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
  • Click once on the Security tab
  • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  • Click once on the Custom Level button.
  • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
  • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
  • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
  • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
  • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
I highly recommend downloading the following programs, to keep nasties of your computer to begin with.
The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**

Ad-Aware 2007 Free - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**

SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**

SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.

IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**

ATF Cleaner - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.

AntiVirus Program An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like Active Virus Shield or AVG, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
DO NOT install more than one antivirus program. They will conflict, and provide less protection, not more.
**Tutorial on installing & using Active Virus Shield can be found HERE**

Firewall A firewall is definatley a must have. I reccomend Comodo.
**Tutorial on Firewalls can be found HERE**

Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.

You must stay on top of your updates at all times, for the above mentioned applications.

It is vitaly important to stay on top of your critical updates provided by microsoft.

To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein.

Good luck and safe surfing :whistling:
