Hi - Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I am on XP.

Here are my symptoms:

- The problems all started the other night when my tool bar just vanished. Then my computer started acting funky

-My computer is taking especially long to boot up and to process info. When my firewall loads my icons on my desktop disappear and then slowly come back.

- I'ved tried doing a virus scan, but in the middle of it, the scan stops and then all that appears on my monitor is a blank desktop

- I've tried doing a spyware scan and same thing happened

- I did manage to delete my temp files with Clean up...but that took forever....and some how my computer didn't go to a blank desktop.

Thanks again for any help.

Hi jimthecello...Welcome to Geeks to Go.

Let's let the malware experts deal with this one.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions found there...or do as much as you can. If you have problems, make a topic asking for their assistance.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
