cannot remove netgear wg511t wireless adapter

Hi,
i am using windows xp sp2. there seemed to be a problem with my wireless network so i wanted to unistall and install the adapter. when runnig the file from the cd i received it only removes the software but the software does not seemed to be removed.... it is still available on the control panel.also eveytime i run the setup file no install option is available. the installation version i have on the cd is v4.3 i have also tried to install the file downloaded from netgears website v4.4. any suggestion as to how to remove and install the adapter??? please note that it does not appear on the device manager list

Ensure the adaptor is removed from the PC before trying to uninstall it's software. Wireless adaptor software is usually removed via 'Add/Remove Programs", not by using the install CD. Using Add/Remove should also get rid of the icon in Control Panel. Then look through the list of folders in 'C:\Program Files' and delete the Netgear folder if it still exists. Then re-boot. Re-installation of adaptor software should then be possible.

i have tried to remove from the add remove from the control panel. for some reason it does not remove it. it says that it has been remove but it stays there. the icon from the desktop still stays and everything stays the same after i reboot. maybe i need to do something in the registry?
