Networking continuously freezing and taking forever to load

I have 3 computers networked, and all of my music 48 GB worth is on the main family computer. I can access it, but it takes a long time to open the folders, and it always freezes. I checked the permissions, and everything is shared on my network. I just wanted to know what the problem is. It can be really annoying and frustrating. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me fix this thanks so much in advance!
