I play online MMOs (specifically World of Warcraft). Lately I have had high latency and occasional disconnects. I did have times when I lost all internet access and my ISP seems to have fixed that. I'm wondering if there is also something on my PC causing the problems and how do I figure that out?

Are you connecting through a router? There can be plenty of reasons for this. Some more common ones are malware, needed upgrade firmware on a router, and ISP issues.

I don't have a router, but the malware might be the culprit. I just scanned and found some spyware, I'll clean that up and see how it runs after.

If you are still having issues then follow these steps:

Please go to the Malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the Instructions to do before posting in the malware fourm.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

Also if you want to learn how to fight malware with us. Check out This Thread.
