System: XP with wireless mouse and keyboard

The problem is this: When I use the scroll button the first click (or sometimes it takes the second click) starts the page moving in steps. It moves 4 times as if I had rolled the scroll buttom 4 clicks. It's always four moves of the page, up or down, depending on the direction of my scroll. I have checked the scroll function and it's on smooth scrolling. This problem started about 2 weeks ago and I thing it was after I downloaded the latest update of IE. Can someone tell me what to do? If you have an answer would you send it to my email, email removed, in addition to the post so I will get it.

Hi there, check this: open your control panel > mouse > click the "wheel" tab. Here you should be able to change your settings. Does this help?
