Hello again Sskeli

OK I see it, but it aint doing anything, that's why I want feed back.

I am going to assume that you still can't right click (I don't know any better)

We are into registry hacks now. Here's what you do.

Go here:

Kelly's-Corner

Right click and Save As whatever you want but with the extension ????.reg

Once saved to a place you can easily find (Desktop is my favourite) double click and choose YES

Please update me on the condition of your PC.

Added the info to the registry.

No noticeable change in the performance of the PC...everything still runs as normal aside from being able to right click files and alter my desktop.

Hello again Sskeli

Download the following file and unzip it to your desktop. Then doubleclick it and grant permission to merge the registry entries.

Background zip

My thanks to g2i2r4 for this fix

Reboot system

How is the system running now? Post a new HJT.log

Hello again Sskeli

This one is for the right click mouse problem.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]
"NoViewContextMenu"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoViewContextMenu"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSetTaskbar"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

Please copy and save the content of the box above to an empty file in Notepad.
Save it as
click.reg
to your desktop
type: all files
Close Notepad.
Doubleclick the file click.reg and grant permission to merge the registry entries.

Hello Sskeli

So the Desktop is still playing up, and everything else is OK?

Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check mark against the following:

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file, and delete it:

C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe if present.

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Let me ponder some more. It is a public holiday in the UK this weekend so I may be missng for a couple of days.

I'll follow those instructions first thing in the morning.

But I am able to right click files in windows explorer and my desktop is back to normal (adjustable). All I'm left with now is a random [bleep] popup while browsing the net.

No luck on getting rid of that line...the file itself doesn't actually exist in the directory though.

Hello Sskeli

All I'm left with now is a random [bleep] popup while browsing the net.

Would you care to give a full description of exactly what you refer to there? The internet is littered with popups and popunders. Even Mozilla Firefox is suffering from them now, although you can adjust the browser settings which might help.

Perhaps quote a site address where this happens to you.

Thanks

It's random...not seeming related to any specific site I visit. I can open up Internet Explorer, have the MSN homepage load up and as I'm getting ready to select a recently visited site from my URL bar...bam...an alternate p*rn window pops up in one of two forms. Either just a simple window, or a window with a message box associated to it.

Hello again

let's try something else.

Download Silent Runners

Unzip it to a permanent folder.

Start SilentRunners.vbs

When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.

Copy and paste the content of the txtfile you get afterwards in your next reply.

"Edit,
As there has been no reply from the original poster this topic is now closed,
Should you have any further problems please create a new Topic,

Thanks "
