I found a nice computer in the dumpster. i brought it home, and hooked up the cables and everything. but when i go to start it up, it just beeps. no display on the monitor. nothing, just beeping.

NOTE: the memory chips are missing, and there is no hard drive. and again, i found this in a dumpster, so it couldve gotten rained on, but it was dry when i hooked it up.

but to my slight understanding, it should still atleast go to a boot menu. any ideas on how i could maybe atleast get this thing to a boot screen? or can you guess whats wrong with it? again when i press the power button, it just beeps. everything else turns on like the fans and everything. but no picture, and no sign of other life. any ideas?

Computers do not do anything without memory in them. You need to source some memory for it before it'll do anything. A missing hard drive is irrelevant.

well the video card has some memory build in. but in any case, ill try to find some memory for it. but the slot looks weird for it, im not sure what kind of memory it takes. you know how the slot has about 3 different spots it goes into the slot?[i hope im making some sort of sense] but this slot only has 2 spots. so i have to look more into what kind of memory it takes. id really like to get this computer up and running, it looks like a good computer from the inside.

thank you for the advice! much appreciated.
