Every time I start-up my computer it gives me a choice of whether I wish to use Vista or XP. This displays for several seconds. How can I stop it asking this each time please?

Also, is there any way of uninstalling XP as I no longer use this?

Thank you.

Go to control panel and select system (switch to classic mode first ).
On the page that comes up select Advanced system settings
On this page select Startup and recovery settings button
Remove the tick from time to display list of operating systems
Click OK and you are done

That's fabulous. Thanks so much.

Is there any way of uninstalling Windows XP as I no longer use it or is that not possible?

Thank you.

The way I intend to do it (and it worked when going from 98 to XP) is to delete the windows folder on my second partition and then get vista to check the boot paths. This should then remove all references to WINXP. But I haven't done it yet - probably will in the next 2 or 3 weeks if you want to wait :whistling:

I'm nervous to do it because I don't have your expertise. Don't want to do anything that may cause Vista to malfunction.

If you can please report how you did it when you get around to it, then I'd be most grateful.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I recommend VistaBootPro if you are unexperienced.

1) To remove XP, first download and install.

2) Open Vista Boot Pro

3) Create a backup file on the first page or the backup tab (vaies on version). I recommend saving to the Root Drive (C: or D:, whichever Vista is installed on) or the Documents folder.

4) After creating a backup, click the "Manage OS Entires" button, click Windows XP (or "Prior Windows Version"), and click the circle with the red X.

5) Click Apply and later restart. Vola, No more XP

Vista is crap. It doesn't buy you anything. Just additional constraints and new cosmetic effects. You're better off keeping and using XP.

Thanks so much about the tip about the Vista software. I downloaded it and used it to delete XP. Much appreciated.

Agree 100% with the comment about Vista. I am usually very level-headed, but Vista is complete and utter junk. In the two months since I have installed it, it has caused me endless problems. Microsoft have set up so many things in a user-unfriendly way. It is hard to believe that Microsoft did extensive usability tests on the software before releasing it.
