OSX really slow

Ok, I'm new to OSX, so this should be an easy question or two
1) How do you compare file sizes (I want to find larger files and deletre them to make it run faster)
2) how do I remove programs?

Uninstalling apps is easy. Just go to the "Applications" folder find the app you want to delete, grab it and drag and drop it into the trash. Your done, for 90% of osx apps that is how uninstalls are done.
