I am a not an expert user at all. Please help.
Upon restarting my desktop, I got the following message:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I went to here: http://support.micro...kb;en-us;307545

I followed the instructions. However, when I type: copy c:\windows\system32\config\system c:\windows\tmp\system.bak I get a message that "the system cannot find the file specified". It did the same thing with the the "sam" and "default" line. It copied the "software" and "security" lines.

I really don't know what to do. We have 2 desktops and a laptop. They are on the same network. The desktop with the problem is where the network is set up on.

Where do I go from here!?

Thanks for any assistance.

I have to go to work today, so if I don't respond right back, I will this evening.

Thanks again
