Hello,

Step 1 : Firewall and AntiVirus.
I see that you don't have a firewall and an AntiVirus. This is important to download and use them.

Firewalls :
Kerio Personal Firewall
ZoneAlarm

AntiViruses :
AVG Anti-Virus
Avast Home Edition

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

Step 2 : C:\HJT.
Please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temporary Internet Files. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted.

Step 3 : VundoFix.
Please download VundoFix.exe to your Desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.

Note : It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Step 4 : New post.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HijackThis log.

Anthony.

Hello SAMMYR,

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply and post the report of VundoFix (C:\vundofix.txt)
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Anthony.

Hello,

I advise you to print or save this answer because you won't can accede to Internet from step 3.

Step 1 : ATF-Cleaner.
Go Here and download ATF cleaner. Click on the downloaded file to run it, and select "Select All", then click Empty Selected (and close ATF).

If you have them, also click on Firefox/Opera at the top and repeat the steps (and close ATF). Firefox/Opera will need to be closed first for the cleaning to be effective.

Step 2 : AVG Anti-Spyware.
Download the free version of AVG Anti-Spyware from here to your Desktop and doubleclick on the executable to install it.

Launch AVG Anti-Spyware (there should be an icon on your desktop, doubleclick it if the program does not open). The program will now go to the main screen.

You will now need to update AVG Anti-Spyware to the latest definition files. On the left hand side of the main screen click update and then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. Do not run a scan yet.

Step 3 : Safe Mode.
Reboot into Safe Mode (at startup tap the F8 key and select Safe Mode).

Step 4 : HijackThis.
Open HijackThis, run a scan, place a check next to the following entries and then click fix checked :

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {EA0A8992-2AEC-48ED-9BC2-22EE2DED7CC8} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqr.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - -{EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - -{C4069E3A-68F1-403E-B40E-20066696354B} - (no file)

Step 5 : AVG Anti-Spyware.
Run AVG Anti-Spyware now. First click on Settings > Recommended Action and change it to Quarantine. Next look at Reports and uncheck "Only if threats were found". Don't change any other settings.

Click on the "Scan" tab and click on "Complete System Scan" to begin scanning. When the scan is finished, look at "Set all elements to" and click to change to "Quarantine" if this option is not displayed. Click on "Apply All Actions" and then click the "Save Report" button at the bottom of the screen. Click on "Save Report As" and save the report to your Desktop. Close AVG Anti-Spyware.

Step 6 : Reboot and new post.
Reboot into Normal.
Create a new HijackThis log.
Post your AVG log please, along with the new HijackThis scan and tell me how your computer is running. You can use separate posts if needed.

Anthony.
