I can't open more than one IE browser at a time, certain programmes crash or freeze. I don't get any error messages, but the whole system has slowed to a crawl - all internet pages take forever to load and mostly only part load before freezing.
I've gone through all the recommended tests and scans and am posting the logs here.
Please would some kind geek take a look at my SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log/Panda Active Scan/Hijackthis log and see if they can spot what's going on??
Many, many thanks
Youngratty :whistling:

    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    c:\windows\system32\f3PSSavr.scr
    c:\program files\Media Pass
    C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\riched20.dll

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Download WinPFind3u.exe to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named WinPFind3u on your desktop.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the WinPFind3u folder and double-click on WinPFind3U.exe to start the program.
  • Under Additional Scans click the checkboxes in front of the following items to select them:
    • <list of options>
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Use the Add Reply button and Copy/Paste the information back here. I will review it when it comes in. If, after posting, the last line is not < End of Report > then the log is too big to fit into a single post and you will need to split it into multiple posts.

Hello - thanks for your welcome and for picking up this one!

I followed your instructions (and didn't get a PendingFileRename Operations prompt when running Killbox).

I'm pasting the WinPFind3u repost below...

Many thanks again for your help it's very much appreciated.

Let me know how things are running.

Go to Start > Run
Type: regedit Click OK.
On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.
Go up to "File > Export". Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.
Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".
Under "Filename" put backup

Choose to save it to C:\ or somewhere else safe so that you will remember where you put it (don't put it on the desktop!)
Click save and then go to File > Exit.
This is so the registry can be restored to this point if we need it. It may take a minute. Just let it go until it's done.

Open Notepad, and copy everything inside the code box below (Starting with REGEDIT4) and paste it into a new notepad file. Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixit.reg on your Desktop. Make sure there is NO blank line above REGEDIT4

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mpb]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser\{4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-86BD-FD60BB9AAE3A}]

Locate fixit.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. When it asks if you want to merge with the registry, click YES.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Thanks.
I followed your instructions - though the AVG antivirus didn't generate a report - (it found only some tracking cookies during the scan).

New HJT log below.

Thanks, Good to hear it's looking ok from where you are...

It's still very slow though ... won't load the likes of MSN Messenger at all. With other programs it gets as far as the front page and then grinds very slowly after that...
Mmmm... any thoughts?? :whistling:

Sorry to hear that things aren't running good, we will ge tto the bottom of this.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:

* Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
* This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
* Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
* Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
* Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
* Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
* When the scan has finished, in the menu, click file and choose save report list
* Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
* Close Dr.Web Cureit.

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.

How are things now? Other then that one file, I don't see any other malware residing on your PC. Is your PC slow when it boots? Does IE load properly or is it just certain programs you are having dufficulty with?

Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
Select:
  • Delete on Reboot
  • then Click on the All Files button.
Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

C:\WINDOWS\orun32.isu

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.

Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).[/list]

Glad to report things are much improved! Internet pages are loading far more quickly and, so far, haven't had one stall on me!
The only glitch remaining seems to be that if any of my kids sign in to MSN messenger and then attempt to open any web page, then MSN freezes and signs them out.

Unless you can think of a glaringly obvious reason for that happening, I'm happy to live with that - I reckon they'll just have to do either one thing or another and not both!!

I'm truly very grateful for all the time and patient help you've given so willingly over this.
Were it not for the minor matter of the Atlantic between us, I'd be buying you a pint down the pub right now...

Many, many thanks again..

Glad to hear things are running better. We can try tuning it up, but speaking with experience, I myself have loads of problems with MSN Messenger, it isn't without it's faults. You can try un-installiing and re-installing. Try Tuneup utilities, it's a 30 day free trial and has options that will optimize your system as well as your internet.
Good Luck! :whistling:

Prefetch is clickable for more information

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, (all files will highlight), right click any file, click delete, confirm

Click start then all programs, accessories, system tools to run Disc Cleanup

Reboot

Click start then all programs, accessories, system tools to run Disk defragmenter

Download, install and run
Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Disable the anti virus program then click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Check the anti virus program is running

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Since your issues have been addressed and you are ready to travel the net again, I will just give you a few ideas on how to stay safe out there. Best of all these programs are all readily available on the net for free

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:

Spyware Blaster Spyware Guard

Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE--Adaware Tutorial

Spybot S&D--Spybot Tutorial

Antiviruses play an important role in keeping your computer safe and worry free while using the net. *NOTE* Only one antivirus must be allowed to run on your computer, as having two or more running can and will cause conflicts.

AVG Avast

Firewalls are also a must in any good prevention :

Zone Alarm Tiny Personal Firewall

There are different browsers available on the net, other than Internet Explorer, we believe!! these are better for security purposes :

Firefox Opera

You must stay on top of your updates at all times, for the above mentioned applications.

It is vitally important to stay on top of your critical updates provided by microsoft.

This can be accessed by going to Windows Updates and following the prompts.

To add to the performance of your computer, i suggest a weekly maintenance program. Run this tool. Ccleaner

Lastly a second opinion on the Antivirus that you have chosen. I suggest running these online virus scans periodically, just to make sure that the av is doing a proper job, of keeping you safe :

Housecall Online Scan Panda Activescan

Housecall Java Online Scan<---For those who use Firefox, or opera.

And finally a little Posted Image How did I get infected in the first place ? (by Mr. Tony Klein)
