Recently, when I log in, I have all of the installed IM's and other programs popping up onto the screen. I don't mind the weather channel coming up, but I don't use the IM's very often and would like for these to not to be popping up when I log in. How do I do this?? I've done this once before, but can't remember how now.

Hi usafrigger. Welcome to Geeks to Go!

Most, if not all, of the IM clients have a setting to load or start with Windows. You can disable them that way.

Alternatively, you can remove them from the Startup list in msconfig. Click Start, Run..., type in msconfig. Go to the Startup tab. Browse the list of items for those IM clients. Expand the Command column to see the path for the item. Uncheck the ones you don't want to start with Windows. Click Ok when finished. You'll get a prompt about restarting your computer for changes to be effective. The first time you reboot, you'll get a prompt about System Configurator. Put a check in the "Don't remind me again" box and click Ok.

Did that do it for you?
