Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://yoursearcher.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://yoursearcher.com/index.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://yoursearcher.com/index.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://yoursearcher.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://yoursearcher.com/index.htm

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log.

Thanks for helping out:
I Booted into safe mode and ran Hijack - fewer references to yoursearcher came up and I removed them: see log below - everything looks ok. However rebooting back into a normal mode - everything looked ok for a while then - its back! See 2nd log file

Your log looks okay, which means you probably have a Look2Me variant.

Let's try this fix first:

That's expected. This can really be a pain to get rid of. Let's try this one:
Look2Me Uninstaller: http://www.look2me.c...bin/UnInstaller

Please download this removal tool:
http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=19

Run the file following these directions:
1.) Delete all files found(VX2Finder will "End Task" on up to 2 instances of Rundll32.exe automatically)
You will get a message about "cannot delete this one" matching the same name in the Guardian Key.

2.) Click "Open regedit" will take you right to the Guardian Key(no need to search for it)
Hilite "Guardian", RightClick and choose
Security/permissions, you'll get another
window with 'advanced'..
DE-select (uncheck) the lower box with
"inheritable permissions"
hit 'ok' and 'remove' on the following security prompts.

3.) On restart use VX2Finder again, select + delete the last file, click "User Agent$" will remove that entry from the registry.

4.) Click "Open regedit" again, this time restoring the checkmark in "inheritable permissions"

5.) Click "Guardian.reg" Deletes the Guardian Key.

6.) Use Find again should produce a clean log of blank values.

7.) Click "Restore Policy" to restore the Debug policy altered in the look2Me installation.(requires reboot to apply, but not immediatley neccessary)
Restart computer.

Wow!!! I had this same problem with "yoursearcher.com" hijacking my start up page and agonized for hours reading different forums on how to best deal with this perversion and than I ran across an answer sooo simple in its approach as to be totally unbelievable---BUT IT WORKS!! I ran across a post where someone just advised people to run "system restorer" back to before your computer got infected--which in my case was last week and it worked like a charm. I know this tool is available on HP machines---don't know abou others. <_<

Hello

I have the "your-searcher.com" problem, too. Also, when I boot down, a dialouge box appears saying that "Win Min" is not responding. The task list contains no such program. I can not find any file on my computer called "winlogin.exe", nor do I have HijackThis. Do I need HijackThis to solve the problem, or can I do without it? I have both Spybot and Ad-Aware, neither of which find any problems.

I'm back, just editing old post for convenience-
New symptoms, I think the same bug.

- When it boots up a dialouge box appears: "The required DLL file was not found".
- It freezes occasionally during use.

<_<
