I have windows XP professional. when i try to boot up, i get a black screen that starts with "we appologize..." and asks to boot in safe mode, normal or most recent good config.

I have tried all the options and nothing works.

Please help!!!! i need to return to work tomorrow and my computer is not working and all my files are on it!!

Yes as stated above, i get a black screen that starts out by saying, 'we apologize for the inconvience... plase choose boot in safe mode (all safe mode options) boot windows normally and boot with the last know good configuration. no matter which you choose it comes right back to this screen.

the only thing that has happend is my kid pulled the mouse out and put it back in. I inspected it and it seems fine.

i just tried booting from the XP CD like a previous thread said to do. When i get to the area where you may get an error becasue of a hard drive problem, it says something about not enough space and format over (loosing everything) Is there a way to get to the hard drive and and delete files to make room? OR do i have to remove the HD and put it in a different computer to do this?

Have you selected Disable Restart on System Failure in those options?

Do you get a Blue screen with a error message on it?

If so what is the Technical Information?
