Most of the time when i start my computer explorer will quit. I have to use ctr-alt-dlt to run any program. If i run explorer it starts then quits wihtin 5 seconds... then starts and stops for a random amout of time (usually 45 seconds) then quits for good untill i run it again where the process starts over again.

Sometimes i get this message

(Header) Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

program: C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE

A buffer overrun has bee detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.

If i ignore this message explorer will stay up but once i click ok explorer quits and then i'm right back to where i would be if the message didnt show up.

I've run a bunch of scans (ad-ware, AVG, Spybot) and nothing. AVG did actually find a problem, fix it but then 2 days later it returned.

Thanks so much for helpin.

We now need to make certain that this issue is not malware because if we troubleshoot otherwise we may be wasting our time.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
