I keep getting the following error message when I go to reboot or on startup:
--------------------------------
Windows cannot find 'C\WINDOWS\system32\fservice.exe'.
--------------------------------------

Please help me as I do not know what to do. I can still get online and surf but something is broke somewhere as this shouldn't be doing this.
many thanks and God Bless
Jenny

We now need to make certain that this issue is not malware because if we troubleshoot otherwise we may be wasting our time.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Hi and thank you so very much for replying. My question is this. Does my computer need this "fservice.exe"? The reason I ask is because why is my system searching for it if its not needed or is it spyware of some sort?. I will do as you say and go to that link and clean up my computer.
HERE IS SOME ADDED INFO: yesterday I got a "Backdoor.Prorat.ae Trojan" and AVR wanted to quartatine it but I deleted it instead thinking I was doing the right thing.
