I am encountering various strange behaviours after years using the same machine.
In the last couple of days, Windows Explorer has started showing blank (whited out) panes for the WinNT and System32 directories. At the same time, the Windows Installer is failing with any update files I can find on line and Add/Remove Programs has disappeared. Outlook and Excel have also stopped working.

I notice that svchost.exe is running at close to 100% CPU all the time.

My Mcafee antivirus at first found nothing and then today after an update .dat found payload.dat and DC3.exe and took them out. I also had a strange Modsky.exe lurking around.

Any ideas ? My PC is fast becoming wasted.

Thanks

Sounds like you're in need of a stop at the Malware forum
