I attached a "faulty" hard drive to my computer via a USB interface and my computer went beserk! AVG found 12 infections almost instantly. Turns out the drive was not faulty but infected. I done a complete scan and removed over 100 virus infections and more than 200 spyware infections. I use AVG Free anti virus, Spyware Doctor Full Version, and Zone Alarm Security Suite. For a couple of days i had no issues, i was able to connect to the internet with no problems. I also have another computer and a laptop in this same room of the house all using wireless with no troubles so i am happy to completely eliminate problems with the router.
when i open zone alarm in the top right corner i have 4 programs running, non of which are displayed on the programs list on the program control menu. The first which seems the most suspicious is a small box (just like a typical exe file) which has a hand underneath which i presume is shared? When i hover over the box it displays the text
Application Layer Gateway Service Listening to port(s): TCP: 1027.
The other 3 boxes i can see all look the same but without the hand underneath. Their text displayes

Ok so these may be nothing but i am not convinced!
My IP is dynamic and it is always acquiring an IP address, if i change to a static address i am connected however i have no internet connection.
I should also note that when i open my wireless properties where it say acquiring network address, with the SSID, time connected, signal strength etc, the SSID dissapears for a split second every couple of seconds.
I have used System Mechanic by iolo to scan for registry errors and malware but non were found, i have also done full scans with all the programs i have on my machine which returned nothing.
I had a similar problem 12 month ago when i tried downloading torrents for the first time without any spyware protection, within a week my computer lost its connection, i tried everything i knew to get it working, i even posted in here but had no response. After a month i decided to wipe the lot.
I know this post is a bit everywhere but i am trying to give as much information as i can, i really hope this is a well known problem which can be cured!
