Are there any programs out there with a firewall + antivirus + anti spyware, or at least firewall + anti virus, besides McAfee? (i don't really like it.) I'd like to know of some that are in the same program, not seperate. Thanks.

Typically these bundles are resource hogs and cost money. Norton offers what you are looking for. There are others that have A/V and A/S bundled such as Trend Micro. I personally go the free, low resource method and have AVG a/v and AVG anti-spyware with Zone Alarm free edition for a firewall.

There are many such as McAfee, Norton, Panda, F-Secure are the common ones. What you're looking for is commonly called an Internet Security Package.

I would advise that you at least download and install the totally free AVG anti-virus program (WHICH UPDATES DAILY) and the AVG anti-spyware. This is free with free updates for one month. It has protected me for the past two years!

If you want to go the free way, then AVG is probably the best choice. While Norton is also a product which offers an Internet Security package, I would personally avoid it. Yes, Norton has decent protection, however, it's going to likely eat your resources alive.

I think we need to understand some things a little bit better than our geek u friends have stated.

Suite applications like Norton and Mcaffee tend to be resource intensive. By trying to be a one stop solution they end up being a jack of all trades and master of none. We don't recommend Norton or Mcaffee products for this very reason. What we do like is to recommend separate apps that do their jobs very well.

Free Anti Virus:
AVG http://grisoft.com/
Avast http://avast.com/

not free AV:
Nod32

Firewalls:
Zone Alarm (free edition)
commodo firewall (free/open source)
Sunbelt Kerio

AntiSpyware:
AVG Antispyware (formerly Ewido)
spysweeper by Webroot
In-control by Sunbelt Software

This isn't an all inclusive list here. You can see additional info here: http://www.geekstogo...ftware-t38.html

Hello Kazer,

If you are looking for internet security suit i suggest Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0, it has personal firewall, protection from spam and phishing, protection from viruses, trojans and worms, spyware, adware and others.
More information can be found at the following link: http://www.kaspersky.com/kis6

Be aware that internet security suits need a lot of resources and it can slow your computer.

There are other internet suits, but you may also consider installing only good antivirus product and combine it with good firewall and antispyware programs.

Example:
NOD32 Antivirus Software has a quite good protection and its one of the best payed for antivirus programs, you can make good combination with free firewall program like Comodo Free Firewall and Comodo BOClean - Atimalware and some good antispyware solution like: AVG Antispyware, Trojan Hunter, a-squared Free etc.

See this link for more information: http://spywarewarrio...eatures.htm#rec

If you want to go with free product then i suggest one of these antivirus programs:

- Antivir PersonalEdition Classic

- avast! 4 Home Edition

These two free antivirus programs are excellent, and with good combination of firewall and antyspyware program will keep the computer safer.

You can also see these two links for more information on how different products perform on different tests:
