It was when I bought norton antivirus 2007 and tried to install it. The cd drive read the disk and it went to setup. I already had an antivirus installed called windows live onecare. So I uninstalled onecare so they wont conflict with each other. Then i restarted the computer. Then when i put the cd on the cd drive norton didnt autoplay so i went on my computer and explored the cd. When i explored it it starts loading and i see some of the files. But then after a few seconds the file disapears and when i went back to my computer the norton icon was gone on drive E. I then restart the computer and try again but i dont see any files. I tried it on my other comp and the disk read fine. So i try other cds and dvds and they dont work either. After that i just re installed onecare over the internet because the cd doesnt work.

Can someone help me pls

I tried reinstalling the driver, cd gone , upper filters, etc.. but i might have done it wrong so feel free
to suggest it again.

thx in advance ^^

It worked fine before but now it cant read the cds that worked fine before
I tried other cds but still nothing
When i put in a blank cd with files in it it asks me "what do you want windows to do?" and when i choose open it on a folder theres nothing inside
When i try it on my other computer it works fine.

Note: There is no red x or ! on the device manager

Thx for replying ^^

lens cleaner wouldn't hurt. Try and reseat the cables on the drive. An improperly seated cable could cause the issue. Besides uninstalling OneCare and installing Norton have you done anything else?

you could exchange the drive with one from a known working system. If the new drive works, then its a hardware issue. If not, then it's an os issue.
