Hey, I would be very appreciative if someone here could provide me with some assistance. I installed windows vista business a while back and everything runs smoothly. The only problem is that I can't play DVD movies with my dvd writer drive. I have an hp pavilion dv2050us laptop computer. However, I was able to burn a few cds the other day and thd drive seems functional. I just cannot play dvd movies and its bothering me. Can anyone help? :whistling:

No that's not the issue for sure, I have software that allows me to play DVDs. The thing is that my drive does not seem to recognize DVDs at all.

a lot of things that worked fine for XP(like dvd reading software) is having trouble running on vista, since you lose no time in trying, just install vlc since it is about the most versitile of dvd codex players and rule out DVD codex reading problem for me because best to rule out the obvious before trying something else, btw what happens with any other type of DVD like games, or an XP dvd for example, is the drive recognised in explorer
