Windows Media Player Streaming Issues

I recently installed the newest version of Windows Media Player because streaming audio was playing at double speed when playing through a web browser. Now that Media Player 11 is installed, ther is no sound at all. When I open files in the Media Player application, they play correctly. In addition, streaming audio and video will play when opened in Windows Media Player. However, they will not open when the player is embedded in a browser. Thank you for your help.
