Hello,
Please put HiJackThis in it's own permanent folder....for storing important backups!!!

Click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which while highlighted you can rename to "HJT". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder.
Please put your HijackThis.exe there and post a new Hijackthis log.

Hello steve g,

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [232g33S] nbtnttriggers.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [J0tmRTepi] mycksie.exe

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to Show hidden files & folders:

files...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\nbtnttriggers.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mycksie.exe

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

===============

Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:

1. Click "Free Online Scan".
2. Click "Scan now, it's free".

It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's down:

1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) "Auto Clean".
3. Click "Scan".

When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.

===============

Post back a new Hiackthis log, state any problems and let me know how everything goes.

-

steve g,

Go to "Control Panel"---" Java" or "Java Plug-in"---"Cache"---"Clear"---"Apply" then close it out.

===============

Download, install and run Cleanup! from Steven Gould, then:

1. Click "Cleanup!"

(wait for the program to finish scanning your system, and selecting files to be removed.)

2. Exit the program

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {B8B55274-0F9A-41E5-9067-A3539BD9E860} - C:\WINDOWS\msagent\chars\xmlnet.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: xmlnet - C:\WINDOWS\msagent\chars\xmlnet.dll

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to"view system and hidden files/folders"(rehide system files and folders when were done):

file...

C:\WINDOWS\msagent\chars\xmlnet.dll

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

===============

Reboot your computer and do another scan at TrendMicro.

Post back a new Hijackthis log, report any problems and let me know how everything goes.

IMPORTANT! PLEASE do not restart your computer unless asked, restarting can reinfect your computer resulting in us starting the cleaning up process all over!

hi njustice - sorry it has taken so long but thought had posted reply but must have done something wrong as when i checked earlier found that it wasnt showing.

have done as much as i can -

when i try to download 'cleanup' i get 'page not found'. have tried on a number of occasions with same outcome.

i deleted files as requested in HJT.

was unable to delete C:\WINDOWS\msagent\chars\xmlnet.dll
i did try doing this in safe mode too but was unsuccessful.

did a scan via Trendmicro. would not delete...

TROJ AGENT.FZ - C:\WINDOWS\msagent\chars\xmlnet.dll

HJT log is as follows -
