I have a new Dell Latitude 630 laptop. I am wanting to take vista off and put XP back on the machine, but when I put the XP cd in and try to reformat the machine I get this message:

Windows XP Professional Setup

Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected
to you computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is
correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostics
or setup program.

Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.

This machine is brandnew out of the box. I have had this problem before but it was on a HP machine. And we had to download a patch to get it to work. I was wondeirng if anyone had or knew were this patch was this get this machine going.

Thanks
Mike

Hi mj_138...

Your Dell likely has a Serial ATA HDD (SATA) installed. You must install the SATA drivers during the install (just as it starts) by pressing F6 and then providing the driver disk. SATA drivers for your machine can be downloaded from the Dell website...the instructions are on the download page.
