Help please! I put a password on my daughters computer for the administrator and I can't log on! It worked when I password protected the screen saver but now it doesn't work when logging on as the user. I've tried previous passwords, etc. but without success. There are programs for sale to download that crack passwords but I question their legitimacy and would also like a free solution, if available. Anyone with a brilliant idea? Thanks for your help! I am using Windows XP

Try this:

On the logon screen, hold CTRL+ALT and press DEL twice
Then as the user, put Administrator
Leave the password blank.

Most of the time that works, unless you use the deafult admin account.

As much as we would like to help, it is against GTG policy to help anyone bypass or find a way around a password problem. Please see a related topic for replies/reasons:

Thanks Kniht. Tried but it was unsuccessful. What I don't understand is how the password worked for the screen saver but not for the login. That's why I question whether or not I maded a typo in creating the original passord. Again, thanks for the attempt.
