Hello everyone, this is my first post and I am having trouble with my hard drive. I am not listing the spec of the machine or hard drive because I do not think it will be neccessary but will supply it if asked for.

I have had this PC for about 3-4 years and in the last 18 months when I start the machine it occasionally says boot failure insert system disk. I find that if I leave the machine shut down for about 30 mins it will boot up again. Now this was a pain about 9 months ago and occured regularly for about 2 weeks but then seemed to disappear by itself.

Now however it has happened again and has been doing so for the last 2 days. Twice the system rebooted itself with this message while I was running diskeeper, a defragmentation program and today it rebooted with this message while it was just left idle. I was wondering if anyone else has experianced this and whether or not the hard drive is failing. I am currently running a disk scan with the manufacturers program to see if it will detect any problems but it seems strange that this happened 9 months ago, was fine, and now has started happening again.

Any thoughts?
