Hello not sure where to post this.

I was given a Compaq EVO D300 mini tower that came with Windows 2000Pro.

I called Compaq and ordered the restoration disk and gave the lady all the ID numbers on the computer sticker.
Then the lady asked XP Pro and of course I said yes thinking she was giving me a choice.
The XP restore disks arrive and when installed it says:
“Compaq Restore CD Error
This version of the Compaq Restore CD does not support the system on which it is running”

What part of this EVO computer is rejecting the XP disk?
Is there any way to make the XP restore disk work on this computer?

I have tried a different hard drive and till have the same message.

Thanks Ron

Problem's usually caused because its the wrong CD for the wrong system.
Send it back to Compaq and ask for the right CD for that computer.

Alternatively, inspect the computer as it stands, it may have built-in system recovery already.

Thanks Neil

Contacted HP about the restore disk replacement and they said it has been over 30 days and the wrong disk belongs to me now.

I told them that it took over 30 days for the wrong disk to arrive.
HP says that is my falt for not paying the $15 extra for over night shipping.

Got to love HP.
