Dell A940 all in one Printer how to get printer icon

I have a dell A940 printer connected to my Gateway Laptop since June 2006. The printer icon used for quick launch disappeared when my son unplugged my printer to access my USB Port. I have tried unsuccessfully to re-instate my printer icon in the lower right hand corner of my screen. Can anyone help? I purchased my Gateway in June 2006 new.
