Frequent Crashing

2.79 GHz, 1.25 GB of RAM

For the past week, a window would appear like the following...


Then I would proceed to click the "Close Message' button. Then after about 5-10 seconds another window would appear like this...


I then clicked the blue link "Click Here" to see what the error report contained. Which resulted in this window...


Then I clicked the blue highlighted link to the right of "To view technical information about the error report." Then I got the following window...


My problem is, I have no idea why it's crashing. It crashes randomly, because sometimes I'll be listening to music while browsing the web and those messages will appear, while other times I'll be playing a game called Starcraft and it will appear. I don't think it's a virus or anything related to that, because I use Norton Anti-Virus and Webroot Spysweeper, and I make sure to check for updates everyday, and I recently did full scans for both, and nothing was found except for a few spy cookies; which I removed. I think it might just be a "coding" related issue or a missing file, that sort of thing, but I'm not sure. Is there any advice you could possibly give to me that would fix this issue?

Click start then run, type %TEMP% then press enter, click edit, select all, click delete these files (or right click any file, click delete) confirm

When it stops with a cannot delete message, click OK

Press and hold the ctrl key then move the cursor over the named filed to unhighlight it, click delete these files (or right click any file, click delete) confirm

Generally, files which are prefaced with ~ will not delete, also those named perflib_perf etc

Empty the Temp folder as much as you can

Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD

Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

If you do not have an XP CD you can borrow a same version as was originally installed XP CD, if you downloaded SP2 then you need an SP1 XP CD

If you do not have an XP CD and are unable to borrow one, run the scan, click skip if it asks for the CD, if it keeps asking, click cancel.

If it kept asking for the XP CD then system files are missing

Click start then run, type chkdsk /r then press enter, type Y to confirm for next boot, press enter then reboot.

Windows will appear to load normally then either the monitor will show progress or the screen will go blank, do not disturb this.

This will take an hour or so before it gets to the desktop.

Download and install Tune Up 2007 Trial

Run Tune Up Disc Clean Up

Run Tune Up Registry Clean Up

Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, which will take a few minutes and need a reboot. You should disable the antivirus programme to run this and check it is running after the reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

I might have to wait a few days to see if it will crash again, but so far so good. Thanks!

EDIT: OK, I'm not experiencing anymore crashing. Thanks for you're help! - You can close this thread if you would like.
