Everytime that I boot my computer up a black screen comes up saying:
NTLDR is missing press Ctrl Alt Delete to restart. So I do that and the message still pops up and i can't do anything on the computer.

It is a HP Pavilion
Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

Help would be appreciated, becuase I hate my iMac that i am on.

Insert the Windows XP CD, and boot your computer from the CD

Possibly, you will need to press the power button and keep tapping the delete key, (possibly F2) until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, load the XP CD then type Y then press enter, as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

Press R, to go into the Recovery Console. You may need to type in the Administrator password (If you don’t recall setting a password, try leaving it blank then press enter, if you get an error, that means that there was a password. You will need this password to continue)

Once in the recovery console, type the following (note the CD Drive here is letter D: so change this to whatever your CD Drive is and my Windows is on C: so change that drive to whatever your Windows is on):

copy D:/i386/ntldr C:

then press enter, if it asks you if you want to replace a file, confirm
copy D:/i386/ntdetect.com C:

then press enter, if it asks you if you want to replace a file, confirm

Then Reboot

Can you borrow a same version as installed XP CD

i might. i don't know because everyone that I have talked to said their PC didn't come with it either.

Does the PC have local disc C and then D Recovery Partition

If yes, have you got the model number

ok. thanks for your help but I contacted HP and they are sending me out Recovery Disks for my computer.
