If you purchased the songs, then you should be able to access iTunes support (from Apple) and ask them what it means. Are you able to download them to a different computer?

yes i have been able to download the files on a different computer. I just wish i knew how to get rid of this error. I emailed itunes, they wanted me to shut down my security settings and to check my purchases, but none of that has helped. i guess for now i have to down load everything from a friends laptop.

Yeah, that does sound weird (and annoying!). Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes?

Try this
1) go to start
2) search itunes
3) open your itunes folder
4) within that folder there should be a folder named tmp. downloads.
5) once you click on the download your having trouble with, delete the file thats there.
6) go to itunes and click support on the right side of itunes.
7) click downloads and it will restart your interrupted download.
This may not work for some people but some will.
