I like to play games; and I also like to save them very frequently (call it OCD). Either way, I have heard that it is bad for a hard drive, or save peripheral in general to save constantly/frequently.

Is this true, or are hard drives/save peripherals designed to save like this?

Thanks...

hard drives are designed for the purpose of writing and reading info on demand...that's the only reason they exists...it's technically true that saving or accessing information alot and frequently can cause the read heads to move back and forth across the platters more than if you didn't access the data that much...but this wear is negligable and well within the design of the device

Thank you...

In addition, I have the habit of saving frequently with my XBOX 360 as well (every 30 seconds or so for about 20 minutes)... is this within the design of this device too (i.e. hard drive)?

Thanks again...

i would imagine so....as it uses pretty much a standard PC hard drive....though...by "saving frequently" i didn't think you meant "saving so often people think i'm nuts" :whistling: that's a little excessive....how do you even have time to play the game saving that often? heheh

Well... to make a long story short, I am playing Forza 2 (new racing game); and I just finished the game, but now have to buy all of the cars for completion purposes. Anyway, I am buying all of them and it auto saves after I buy each one (a car every 30 seconds... 300+ cars; I bought for about 20 minutes and that is when I became concerned...)

Still shouldn't make a difference in your opinion though (i.e. not short term/long term effects)?

Thanks again...
