Hi,

I have Windows XP Pro X64, but since there's no category for Windows X64, I placed this thread under Vista . . . I hope it's ok.

My computer is using a lot of space for System Restore points . . . there are about 30 of them. I have a 300G hdd so each System Restore points takes up a lot of room. I have only 16.3G left. How do I reduce the allotted space for System Restore Points?

Denise

Select Start, then Control Panel and double-click the System icon. Then click on the System Restore tab on the dialog box. Depending on your disk setup, do the following:

• Single partition: Adjust the space system restore uses on the disk by moving the slider left to decrease space usage, or right to increase space usage. The default maximum space usage is 12%.

• Multiple partitions or multiple disks: Click on the drive you want to adjust in the available drives section on the System Restore page and then click the settings option. You can then adjust the space system restore uses on that drive by moving the slider to the left to decrease space usage, or right to increase space usage. The default maximum space usage is 12%. Repeat for each drive as necessary. You can also go into "Computer", single click C drive, Right click C drive, click on properties. Then click disk cleanup, then click more options and delete everything up to last restore point. Then you mite want to defrag.

While I was in System Restore tab, I noticed that it included my external hard drives. I turned them off. Thanks.
