Just finishing backup. I want to make sure I was clear.

I have a Windows XP Home edition with Service Pack 2 CD that I got with my Dell. The Laptop I'm repairing is the IBM Thinkpad R51 and is running XP Pro with all of the updates applied. I cannot find the XP Pro CD that goes with the Thinkpad.

Can I use the XP Home Edition cd to repair the XP Pro. operating system on the Thinkpad?

I have finally obtained a windows xp pro cd and have run the repair. The repair seemed to run just fine. Now non of the windows updates will install. They just say they failed, all of them. I have turned off Norton just in case but dont' know where to go from there. Any advise?
Thanks
Dave
