For the last several months, Firefox has opened very slowly. Now Firefox and IE will not load at all - each appears to get hung up halfway thru. Sometimes, Firefox loads if we open it right after rebooting, but if we leave it up a while, it will not load any new pages.

When I uninstall Firefox and re-install it I get a window requesting a program to run "MSN5.downloadhost". I am clueless about that. Right now, our only access to the internet is thru our Verizon/MSN account.

Please help!

I get nothing on a search for MSN5.downloadhost. Is this all that is in the window? May be a malware infection, but want to check on this first.

Hi, Ron!

Yes - during the Firefox download, a window consistently pops up requesting a program selection to run MSN5.downloadhost. I never know what to select and the internet search never finds any thing, so I select cancel. Meanwhile the Firefox download continues and then will not load.

Thanks, Gina

I hate to send you over to the malware forum, but maybe those guys can come up with some idea. It may be something to do with the New Windows Live stuff which I don't use. Please go to the Malware section of this forum and follow the instructions at the top. Especially the Click Here link. That will give you several steps that will help you clean up most of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the cleanup process you are still having difficulty, and you may not be, then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

Please be patient as the "Malware Forum" is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the Malware Section, please return to this thread. Please do not post a HiJackThis log in this thread unless asked to do so and then only as an attachment. To attach log, when requested, either change the .log extension to .txt, or put the log into a compressed (zipped) folder.

Please post back if your problem has been solved.
