hardware:
xbox 360; ethernet cable
linksys wireles router
dell inspiron notebook running xp home; wireless

software:
wmp r11

here's where i'm at. i have connected the 360 to the laptop with a straight ethernet connection and successfully shared files. however when i run them through the router, it hasn't worked.

starting off, i tried exclusively through the router. same issue many had: good, good, failed. then i tried the direct connection and it worked. i hooked the 360 back up to the router instead of the laptop and it wouldn't find the laptop. then i ran an ethernet connection from the laptop to the router and it recognized the laptop. i can jog through the folders, but i can't play any music files or see any pictures. i disconnected the ethernet and i still could browse through my files, but couldn't access them. thus why i'm concluding this is a router issue. however i'm baffled as to why jogging the laptop between an ethernet and wireless connection enable the 360 to see the laptop, even though i couldn't access my files. if anyone has any ideas to try, let me know. and no, it's not a firewall issue. firewall turned off or on has made no difference in any of these circumstances.
