ok I installed the Nero 7 that I have, I have one HP 840 and one 1040, they should both be able to brun dvds, but everytime I try no matter the program, its tells me they are copyright protected and that I cant copy my dvds.... Is there a way to get them to make copies... im am tired of haveing to buy another one cause the kids scratch the crap out of them.... so I want to copy them, and let the kids destroy the copies. Is that illegal or something????

I'm not exactly sure what the legal status is concerning copying, but as far as I understand it, where I live (Australia) it IS LEGAL to make a backup copy of a DVD movie I already own. As long as you keep the original and the backup together, and if you lose the original you throw out the backup. Kinda sounds stupid, but that's the legality of it...

Anyway, you'll need to use a program to rip the movie off the dvd. I use DVD Shrink, google it, it's a free program. Once you have used this program to rip it then Nero will burn it to a DVD for you no problems.
