symantec and internet connection problem

i have intstalled symantec and I have to disable the client firewall to access the internet. What setting do I need to change to access the internet while running the firewall? I have internet explore and msn and neither will connect. thank you

Go into the settings for the firewall, there may be an option to make a new list of programs that can access the internet or an option for auto-configuration of permissions.
