I have a Vaio XP SP2 fully updated, on a domain. When the user enters the credentials it takes about 30-50 seconds to move to the applying settings screen, most domain computers are a couple seconds. Once it logs in it will take about 10 mins before you can access anything on the network. When I check the status of the local area connection there is no activity.
If I run a repair on the connection, it will work right afterwards.

I have removed everything from startup to eliminate something taking to long to load.
Checked advanced settings of NIC to make sure WINS and DNS servers are correct.
Used DHCP and static IP, both same results.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Make sure that the NIC is not set for "auto-negotiate" make the duplex, etc settings static. You might also try removing and installing the NIC in XP.

Wired or wireless?
