can't load certain websites

I can pull up ask, google, craigslist, and see graphics but if I try to go to yahoo or ebay it's slow to load and I don't see any graphics.

I have tried to restore my system, installed updates for windows ( I now have IE7 ?), tried running windows defender (says system is running fine), cleared cookies, files & history, deleted old files and uninstalled unused programs.

I have tried to download a malicious software removal tool thru microsoft but I keep getting a connection error.

I've been trying to resolve this issue since 10pm yesterday and I have no idea what else to do or what is wrong with my computer.

I would appreciate any help! New to this so not sure what additional info is needed so thank you for your understanding.
