OK so you are still having a problem with windows installer.

You are not in safe mode is that correct?

Did you follow all the instructions on KB 315346

As long as you follow the directions it should be fine. If you are confused or need us to explain things a bit more go ahead and post back.

correct, I am not in safe mode & yes I followed the Microsoft Knowledge base install at 1st it wouldn't go in but cmw2010 helped me through it in dos screen. Now when I installed it didn't act like a normal install.

So what do I do now?
Thanks for your help,

Try installing some other program see if it installs correctly.

If you are still having a issue you can run download the Windows Installer installer. here.

why is it saying i'm in safe mode? What would cause that?
I feel this is having something to do with those 2 [I think if I remember rightly] services that said they couldn't start???

Start --> control panel --> Administration Services --> Services

Alerter
Alerter Service on Local computer shows an error 1058: Cannot be started
Application Manager '' error 126: The specified module could not be found.
HidServ
Human Interface Device " error 126: The specified module could not be found.
WudfSvc
Windows Driver Foundation: " error31: A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Could they be causing the problems???

I don't really think those services are having any bearing on this problem, Hidserv enables use of sound and volume controls from your multimedia keyboard, alerter is just for sending popup messages from one user to another. Do you have your printer still hooked up to your pc? If you go to device manager do you see anything flagged with an exclamation mark?

For each error message you gave me with the services here is the KB articles.

KB 241584 for Error 1058

Look in device manager do you see any ! X or ?

Try plugging in a differnt mouse see if that fixes your problem for

Human Interface Device " error 126: The specified module could not be found.

Sorry it is hookedup. I can force the driver it will say it recognises it. But it won't print because it can't read the ink levels. + it is an all-in-one Scanner won't work without programs.

What actually happens when you try to install the Windows Installer? And here is a link to the CD Autoplay repair tool from Microsoft, see if that repairs that problem.
