If one has a number of different programs from (ie) Microsoft or Adobe or whoever and wishes to put them under this heading (ie Microsoft) rather than having a Start Progams page of 3 + columns Is it Possible to do so and HOW?
Simple Question: Can one alter/change the START - PROGRAMS page/menu? HOW?
Thank you

Under XP the Start Menu works in the same was as the rest of the other windows do. You can right-click on a shortcut or a folder and cut it, copy it, or left click on it and drag it up and down. The only thing you can't do here is make new folders but this is easy to get round.

Please see http://www.alamopc.o...ey/bb1199.shtml for details (the information on this page also refers to Windows XP, not just Windows 98).

Open "Documents and Settings" under your user account name and then expand Start Menu. Open the folder inside named "Programs." Do not be alarmed to see that not everything seems to be listed. Just make a "New Folder" and name it as you like. You will now see that folder under the All Programs section of the Start Menu. Simply drag and drop whatever you want into that folder, and it will expand with a "pop-out" menu of its contents just like others do.

The width of the columns displayed in All Programs is directly proportional to the length of the longest name listed. I went through and renamed everything to 20 characters or fewer, and now the columns are only just over an inch wide!
