i have a toshiba laptop running windows media center edition, and i have a maxtor 250 gb external hard drive. Is there a way i can put a password on the external hard drive? Because if i leave my apartment my roomates friends always go into my room...and they have laptops...

May I suggest taking the external drive with you when you leave the room?. Or fit a lock on your door? Or both? :whistling:

ya i ended up doing both haha i hope in the future someone would figure out how to put a password on a ext hd =D

I'm not sure how to go about it, but I'm pretty sure that you can buy external hard drives that have password protection built-in as a safety feature, but taking it with you is a sure-fire way of making sure they don't get to it! :whistling:
